Deaf/Hard of Hearing Web “Alcothon” AA online for any Deaf alkies itching for a drink, just need a sober friend? http://www.nefsis.com/doda Meetings to be held on the NEFSIS/DODA cyber meeting rooms. 24 hours a day starting December 24 at 6:30 pm EST Through a final meeting on December 26 at 12:30 EST.
  4. Austin's Social Security Administration office now provides Video Remote Interpreter services. Appointments for initial claims are available every day of the week and can be made by the national toll free line at 1-800-772-1213 or TTY 1-800-325-0778. Also available on a walk in basis every day of the week for any other service needs. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3:30 pm. Questions: 866-627-6991.
  5. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has released an educational video about the Medicare program in ASL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eskZVAg7v0o for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. The video gives an overview of the Medicare program, including what Medicare is, who qualifies, the four parts (A, B, C and D), new preventive services http://www.healthcare.gov/news/factsheets/2010/07/preventive-services-list.html under the Affordable Care Act, and help paying Medicare costs.

Summer Youth Employment Program
January 3rd, 2012

The work-based learning Summer Youth Employment Program is gearing up for the Summer 2012 Youth Employment. Parents should call 512-854-4590 to register of Job-Readiness Training beginning January 3rd, 2012. Training must be completed by March 31, 2012.

Requirements
  1. 14-17 years of age(youth with disability up to age 22)-Youth must be 14 years of age no later than April 6, 2012
  2. Reside in Austin/Travis County.
  3. Attend School in Austin/Travis County (must provide current-year school ID or report card.)
  4. Valid Social security Card (signed and not laminated)
  5. Complete 15 hours of Job-Readiness Training.
  6. Parent/Guardian must attend first day of training.
  7. Upon assignment, youth must commit to a 5-week work session during the 2012 summer program
