1. Deaf Macintosh guru Scott Steinbrink wants to connect with people interested in Macintosh classes taught by the deaf for the deaf. Email him at drpowermac@comcast.net or VP at 678-710-8623 and he will try to answer questions, and will submit requests to the Education department of Apple Computers to prove that we do need classes for the deaf people. Please indicate your city and state.
2. Travis Country Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing reports that KEYE and Texas Captioning Services are starting live captioning of the Monday-Friday 5am-7am programming. You can go to http://WeAreAustin.com/station/ to let them know you appreciate this service.
3. New job and career advancement training for those new to or reentering the job market. In ASL, with captions and audio. Family Weekend Retreat

Every summer the Educational Resource Center on Deafness and the Texas School for the Deaf host a popular program called Family Weekend Retreat (FWR) for families in Texas who have a child who is deaf or hard of hearing. We offer something of interest for everyone in the family - fun activities, educational workshops and lots of opportunities to network with other families. All family members are welcome!

Register by April 30th to receive the early bird cost of $75 for a family of 4 and $10 for each additional family member – this includes meals and lodging in the dorms. Standard pricing of $100/family of four goes into effect on May 1st. Families arrive on Friday afternoon and depart on Sunday by noon.

Please note: Deaf or hard of hearing students who are enrolled at TSD and their families are not eligible for this outreach program.
