Exploring cultural and linguistic equivalents and ethical implications of swearing and sexual signs.

This workshop will examine implications of working in sensitive settings where there is the use of language that interpreters may not typically use. Participants will examine settings in which sensitive language most likely exists and the responsibility of interpreters to remain faithful to the interpretation within the context of ethics and remaining true to cultural and linguistic equivalency within ethical boundaries.

Presented in English. ASL interpretation provided by ITP students.

DEAFensive Driving

Are you interested in taking a defensive driving course to reduce the cost of your insurance or to dismiss a speeding ticket? Here’s the place. TCSDHH will be sponsoring “Texas Friendly Defensive Driving Schools” to teach a class for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Participants. Interpreters will be provided. Please request additional accommodations and complete pre-registration and payment by 1/19/18.

NOTE: Registration will not be refunded for no show later than 9:05. The door will be locked at 9:05 am – no exceptions! **Please bring your ticket to the class for paperwork.**
